Summer Sangria Recipe

Updated: Nov 11, 2020

It's officially July. Which means it's officially summer at Rancho Roble Vineyards, and it's more beautiful than ever here. Breeze whishes through our property, flowers bloom, and the pond is full with our fountain flowing.

While it's very beautiful here in the valley, there can also be those hot summer days where you either want to take refuge in an air

conditioned house, or brave the heat by jumping in the pool, or tanning by the misters you finally convinced your husband to install outside. The only thing that is missing? Summer Sangria!

Our Summer Sangria is back in full action at Rancho Roble and it's the perfect, crisp, and cool drink for a summer day. Today, we are releasing our recipe so that you can take home wine and enjoy with your closest family and friends.

This recipe is created with our 2014 Rancho Roble Zinfandel, since it is light enough, has a balanced tannin structure, and has notes of raspberry which pairs beautifully with the fruit forward ingredients in this sangria.

People have asked us about the Blackberry Sparkling ICE, and I linked our favorite and the one we use for this recipe below. If you are looking for something you already have in your kitchen, any berry flavored sparkling water should work.

We recommend making this recipe fresh and drinking right away, though you can also refrigerate it and add the frozen berries and fresh mint before serving.

Ingredients:

  • One Bottle of Rancho Roble Zinfandel (2014)

  • 2 Bottles of Blackberry Raspberry Sparkling ICE

  • A splash of Sprite

  • A handful of frozen mixed berries

  • A small handful of fresh mint

  • Fresh berries for topping (optional)

Directions:

  1. Pour entire bottle of wine into pitcher and add 2 bottles of Blackberry Raspberry Sparkling ICE drinks as well as a splash of Sprite. Stir.

  2. Add a handful of frozen berries and stir.

  3. Top with fresh mint and optional fresh fruit

  4. Serve chilled.

We hope you enjoy the recipe as much as our Rancho family has! Let us know your thoughts or send us a picture if you've made it.
